When aux belts attack!

Introduction

Simon heard a ticking, he kept driving then the noise came and the engien stopped. Aux belt had got caught on the cambelt and lifted it off the crank pulley so the engine ran out of time. result a dead car for me to fix.

So the strip down began

aux belt after I had wrestled it out

cambelt as well

head off

yep 16 bent valves

after removing the loose carbon the pistons have scars but live to fight another day!

headgasket had been leaking

exhaust manifold

look at the valves

only just read this report, some impressive work there chap, how long did it take, and what did you use to clean the engine parts?

3 days as the 2nd day I had to wait until 4pm for the valves to come in, during the 2nd day I done the quick porting and so on.

It would have been less than 2 full days if the parts had been there and it wasn't to be ported.
