Bargain

21st October 2009

Perusing Gumtree I found an advert that appealed. A Safrane. £400, about 20 or so miles away.

The advert pictures

I'll have a look at that I thought, I didn't have the space but a look couldn't hurt. So grabbed the Kevster and headed over in the Mini.

Anyway knocked him down from £400 to £270 and got it home.

Pic of the car after it got home beside the grey hatch

The car had gone through an MOT on the 12th October and failed, the failures are as follows

os headlamp aim to far to the right
os front wiper does not clear the screen
nsr disc pitted
osr disc pitted
osf drag link end balljoint play (track rod to normal people)
exhaust has mounting that does not fully support the system
os steering rack gaiter split
parking brake has no reserve travel
front brakes release unevenly
osf brake binding
osf brake juddering severely
nsr parking brake recording little or no effort
nsf strut bearing rough in operation
osf strut bearing rough in operation
parking brake efficiency below requirements (8%)

The plan is to get it mot'd and then the mrs will have it.

I do really like it, its awesome.

but iits to big for mj, shes already bumped the 19 a few times, don't want her bumping a mint car, my sister really wanted it

and tbh running costs would be ridiculous on it, she drives (badly) round town and makes the diesel get into singles figures!

Anyway where theres money to be made it suits me.

I really need the space as well, it takes up the space of 2 cars
