LK02 The resurrection

Repairing my accident damaged Lag 2

Introduction

Well, as some you may know, this vehicle was bounced off a transit van and through a road sign in shortly after buying it. Its been sat in my garden since and i've decided its time to do somthing with it.

Here is a list of what is needed to repair it:
O/S front wing
O/S front door > bought £40 (included wing mirror, reg etc)
Bonnet > bought £20
Front Bumper £15
Wishbone £30
Subframe £50
Steering Rack £30
Driver Airbag £20
Passenger airbag £35
Dashboard
Headlight
Pretensioners

As you can see, most parts have been aquired fairly cheaply. Quite pleased with the cost of the airbags, renault want 600+ for the passenger side one alone! Best of all, all the panels I have aquired thus far have been in good condition and the right colour.

This is a picture of the car being recovered from the scene.

Yeah, I personally tested them myself

Off to pick up the subframe and rack this weekend and then the major work can begin! oh such joy will be removing the dashboard.

Best way to pull the sill out without the right equipment is to drill a couple of small holes and use self tappers, the right way is a pin welder with slide hammer. (don't know the exact name for it)

Do self tappers and pull with a big pair of plairs? Then fill and spray? Any idea how to get that ripple effect to match the rest of the sill?

Good project report, enjoying reading this one!

Sparky's method is the only way youre really going to get that sill in any kind of passable shape, short of chopping a big chunk out and welding in a new section.

Once you've got it roughly right, just use a bit of filler and sand it back, will be a close approximation of shape, depending on how long you spend on it. Ripple effect can be duplicated by using a schutz gun to apply rubberised underseal to the area. Lick of paint and youll probably never be able to tell the difference.
