Nine Eight Coop
Nine Eight Coop
the slug that escaped the salt

Introduction

A mate Kevin who is currently on a 3 year all inclusive holiday bought himself a 1.6 ph1 Megane Coupe and got me to sort it.

This was about August 2007 or so.

The list of problems was it wouldn't turn the immobilser off, knocking, tape all over it (all the windows had previously been smashed), cracked windscreen, brakes were a bit funny and the 17's were tatty looking.

Anyway, stuck in new pads as the old ones had broken up, very dodgy.

Got the immob code from Sparky, re-synched the key.

New balljoint as well.

Car seemed ok.

However the running issue was not solved, to get it to run sometimes you had to bang the ECU. Got the code reader on it, ecu fault or wrong type.

So got a key, BIC and ecu but for some reason the looms are slightly different on the hatches to the coupes so it never worked, but the original ecu having issues inside it meant the car will run with that ecu, sometimes you need to bang it though.

Kevin had enough and sold it to me as he realised a coupe was useless to cart about a mrs and 4 kids! So got himself an Astra, 2 actually then went on that holiday...

Steve_101 and myself proceded to rag the coupe about - a lot. We killed the front tyres, through the rubber through the metal and canvass back to rubber, the tyres wouldn't stay up after that.

The car has been lowered btw. So i decided i'll take the wheels off and sort them out, took the front tyres off and binned them, took the rears off which were mint. Scrap.

There was nails in each and they had rubbed a groove into the sidewall inside the tyre so they went to the bin.

i was disgusted and the wheels ar ein the shed. They are 17 inch momo arrows I think.

Anyway I then bought Steves old 16 inch Lyra wheels off him for £50. So its sitting on those at the moment.

Anyway list of issues.

Running problem.
nearside fog light bust.
front splitter missing (have a laguna one to fit)
stainless exhaust silly loud
cracked windscreen
sunroof not working as a runners snapped.

I will get pictures of it soon and maybe a vid of it running.

Plans for it are either do it up and sell in the summer or if Mary Jayne gets her license she can have it cos I'm a great boyfriend.

pics if they work, from Steve's bebo cos the mofo ain't mailed me them yet!

wheels have seen no kerb action, thats the paint I reffered to, I flaked most of it off so theres like about 3 inches aroudn the edge with no paint now. Thpse wheels are tyre less and in the shed now.

Its got 16 inch lyras on it now.
