Well finally went for its MOT today, now here is the long list, nothing too major though

Idle is too high, no idle control valve
Side skirt not secure
Passenger spring not seated correctly
Fuel filter not secured properly
Hand brake raises to high
Insufficient hand brake
Rear brake lines corroded

Advisories
Wear on inside of tyre

Not bad for this car. its been off the road for 2 years now, 2.5 since last MOT, and it was tested at a renault delears.

All welded up now, and all parts secure, idle control valve all plumbed in now. Have decided to trim the interior with new carpet and two new cobra monaco seats in blue. Re-trimmed door cards and rear quarters with a grey material.
Waiting for seats to arrive then its all ready for new MOT and start running it in. You up Bruces this weekend?

hi there.
I was reading your forum, and i cought my attention because,
I am currently driving a clio turbo,running at appox.280hp
and i fucked up a modified jb3,and a jc5 in about 15000miles.
I could be my poor driving skills, bad luck,or just too much bloody torque!!!
i have been driving r5`s,21turbo,clio`s for about 10years now,and only screwed up maby one gearbox(by beeing stupid)
So they say a172box is very strong??
Will it fit in a clio phase1??
Regards
G.Duncan

I have blown up one gearbox due to lack of oil in it when i had the renault 5 1.4 turbo engine. This however i have had no trouble. But i try to do smooth gear changes plus i am currently only running the valeo clutch which is holding fine for the time being. the 172 box is part of the JC5 gearboxes but it is the strongest one out there, you would need to find a 172 cup car or phase 1 172 as the rest have a speedo pickup from the abs sensor. its the same size as the JB3 gearbox. Wouldn't mind seeing the spec of your car and what psi your running. so i can get an idea when i start turning up the psi in the new year.

Quick update on my car
Having overfueling problems at the moment when changing the map ranges but im sure ill sort that out soon. Decided to change map range from every 500rpm to every 250rpm, however whilst on boost it overfuels even though they are the same figures in both tables which is a bit strange. Got my start a lot better now, seemed that i had a renault 5 battery with a cold crank of 380 trying to start the 1.8 lump, that has now been changed to a battery with a battery with 720 cold crank, starts up a lot better now, just need to sort out the cranking fuel and i believe to be the idle control as well, but still need to play with that

Well my car is now off the road till new year. Was out mapping it last night, due to for some unknown reason at the moment the head gasket decided to go, teach me for only using a standard 1.8 16v gasket for it

Well that didn't take too long lol. Now on the road. had its first test drive today, over fueling a bit though, but got a rolling road tomorrow so that should all be sorted out. Ill get it running more boost if the clutch can hold.

After last post saying trust me to use a standard head gasket, well guess what lol, im using another standard one. It held fine it was only because of a lot of det that caused the problem.

Nurburgring on Saturday, nothing quite like leaving it to the last minute
