1985 Fuego 2.2L

Try to re-cap everything since I got it..

Found it on a Subaru forum, while I was looking to buy a Volvo 240 or some other cheep basic transportation. The Fuego was just too nice and cheep for me to pass up. So I went for it, previous owner even hauled it to my house for me (about 200 miles) he wanted it to go to a good home. It was his dad's toy that he purchased just 6mo before he passed away. So it was hard for him to give up.

Any how it's compleatly rust free, very good shape for a car of this age. Everything but the cruise control works, even has working air con.

So far I've spent my time cleaning electrical connections, and I mean lots of time! Finally cured the funky tail light issues by adding another ground line to them yesterday. Now the turn signals work when i step on the brakes! (always a good thing)

Than it failed inspection, and i spent weeks trying to hunt down inner tie rods, only to discover the car has a recent reman rack and inner tie rods. So it's getting ball joints and struts this week, and will be going to a different inspection station.

Once that's done I'll still have to cure the engine management issues, running rich and still misses every so often. This is not noticable at 70MPH but you can feel it at 25MPH. So far we've tried a new ground to the exhaust manifold, helped some but the o2 is not reading right still so I'll be putting in a new o2 and going from there

I also have discovered a small leak in the transmission, shift linkage input shaft seal seems to be leaking a bit. Already trying to track one of those down.

Hoping to use the Fuego as my summer time daily driver, once it's all sorted out I'll be spending time to work on my 74 Ghia and eventually get a 4th car to use as my winter daily.

--------

Yipee! Upper ball joints that came with the car are the wrong ones. Luckally those are easy to find so I ordered up a pair. But they're not going to get here until late next week and I'm going to be out of town. so I might be able to use the car in 3 weeks. so 2-2.5 months after buying it I might be able to legally drive it...

--------

SO I got it home this evening, 1/2 fixed, also got a new o2 sensor in there. I think it actually runs worse. Must be something else wrong with it.
