I am having a bit of trouble understanding what type of ignition i have because i have been told its a pencil coil and i have seen pictures of a pencil coil but when i took the top panel off there was no pencil coil just 4 rubber things coming off the top panel.
does anyone know what type ignition coil that is

thanks marc.

You won't have the x4 individual coils on an F7R-71X unit mate. You'll have the decent SAGEM unit as the Megane Coupe uses sequential fuel injection

its a big coil pack on the ph1's and it doesn't go wrong tbh. Or at last I have never heard of one going wrong, the pencil coils go all the time adn teh double coils less so, but the ph1 2l is very reliable.

thanks for clearing that up because it was misfiring and losing loads of power below 4000 revs which i was told it was the coil pack and advised to buy the pencil coil. so i pulled the coil pack out expecting them to be pencil coils but was confused with what i saw. anyway i took all the spark plugs out and cleaned them up a bit and now it's running perfectly, but i am going to get some new plugs.
That reminds me which is better bosch or ngk plugs.

thanks marc

ngk plugs.

look in the end of the coil pack 'legs' theres a metal cap and springs in there, they can corrode and lose contact with the plugs.
