Are these torsion bars rescue-able?
![]() ![]() Is this normal state to find the bars in on a typical 16v rear beam? Possible to make them good again?

Yes that is normal. Phosphoric acid is your friend.

Well I have given a big tip above, I have before on here for rusty part. It do need time to work, but it does work, trust me on that. I know from work. acid dip it a few time, flush wash it, WD40 or oil it. remove, wire brush it job sorted.

Ben, i've said before exactly what Pete has just said. They need to be dipped in acid for at least 24 hours to allow it to soak in properly but it will free those splines off! It's truely remarkable stuff
The only problem that you're likely to see is having to pay for it to be done thru the books as they say as it's a failrly large part and can't be snuk in the dip tank with some other bits. |

what about the rubber and the rusty surrounds on the rubber mount? And the rubber on the torsion bars themselves?
