Or leaky sunroof or leaky something else.

Both my cars had wet carpets at some point and neither were the matrix.

mine leaked through the aerial hole on the roof of the car! resealed the aerial and the leak stopped.

does it only leak when it rains or is it all the time?

if only when it rains you could check that the water drain pipes are connected properly (run from the sunroof, 2 pipes at front, which goes down the front pillers by the windscreen and exits by the front wheel arches, remove the plastic wheel arch liner and you will see them, they often get blocked, and there is another two that go towards the back of the car, means taking the headlining out to check though) and check the seal by the aerial

LOL at the taste test! Hahahahah! That's brilliant.

Mine has a small leak from the back of the sunroof. Where the seal joins.

Heater matrix is a pain to change.

Look for white traces on the plastic.

You will see it if you are using normal coolant, not water.

You will also get a sweet smell if it is the matrix. Try some K Seal in it.

Don't shove any Kseal or rad weld or any of that crap in the cooling system, that's a bodge and will just fuck it right up. If the matrix is leaking, put a new one in and do the job properly.

I changed my matrix. Took a few hours. I managed to do it without taking the dash off totally (just the steering wheel, surround and centre console and the main dash bolts). Just make sure you line all the cables up again before you put the dash back or you'll end up with a bodged speedo cable like mine
