Milage + BHP figures?

I know there are a few valvers kicking about at around 150k miles, but what would you say is the average milage for an F7P engine before it goes pop? The one I'm looking at is at about 125,000 with very little history so I'm kind of against the idea, but then again I will hopefully be putting a 2.0 in in the summer if I go for it.

What BHP should you get from an F7P at the wheels? With the one I was looking at I saw a slip that mentioned 91bhp at 6000RPM from a "tune up centre". I'm guessing this is an @ the wheels figure from a rolling road but just wondered what the usual figures are and when peak power usually is as that figure seems a bit low??

Thanks.

How long they last depends on how well they have been looked after, local handy mans one was on 220000 last time I saw it and its still going strong. He claims he also regularly gets 40mpg out of it too. Chances are its going to have had a hard life.

^ aye just make sure its a solid body. Check the fuel tank (filler pipe) too, they always rust there.

Bodywork is solid apart from the sills being a bit rusty. Will have a ponder about it. The guy is wanting £600 for it.

The plan would be to either use it for a few months then sell if I buy a hybrid or 2.0 it so I suppose the engine isn't really anything to be too worried about. But then again wiht most of my plans they never happen, or take three times as long as planned, lol.

£600 for one with rusty sills and 125,000 miles?

Madness.

91bhp is very low.

Typical 16v should make between 105-115bhp at the wheels on a decent rolling road.

As I say I'll see what happens but I think I'm going to give that one a miss. One too many things wrong/missing and after the last one I bought like that I don't fancy it much .

Got another one I'm going to find out about though, just it's a bit further away.
