Don't know about the car in general, but my Coupe has the same angine and they are supposed to be bullet proof, just check it's got service history and if there isn't proof of a cam belt change, get it done.

same bottom end as far as fitment goes...different engine as a whole.

And these other people are Megane owners I take it?!

The bottom end is pretty much the same (williams has ever so slightly higher Cr)...the Williams F7R has extra ribs cast in the side for improved crank case rigidity. The heads are quite different...different port/valve configuration. The megane head is usually deemed as "better"..it has a couple of beneficial attributes...its certainly not the be all and end all, with both In stock trim, both flow similar CFM, and modified both are comparable. Williams cams have more lift and duration.

So next time a megane owner tells you they are the same bar " a few small improvements"..you can set them straight!
