Rear calipers
My ph1 failed MOT on rear brakes.
Cars been sat for three years, but the discs and pads seem fine (roughed up pads with some sand paper). The arms that the hand-brake cable sits in move back and forth fine, and the calipers wind back in no problem. Tonight I adjusted the hand-brake cable via the two lock nuts under the car. I can pull away with hand-brake on fairly easily. Is their anything else it could be? Or is it time to change the calipers? |

first never mess about with the locknuts.
seconds go spend the 15 quid on new handbrake cables. The arm may move on the caliper but does the piston come out? |

I thought the hand-brake was adjustable via the lock nuts - should I put them back where they were?
I will check the calipers are moving in the morning. If there not what next? Thanks in advance......Phil |

the handbrake is set at the factory and never needs touched, if it comes up to far then the rear calipers need looked at or the cables gone stretch armstrong.
if the calipers ain't movign a clean up of the caliper mechanism can sort them out if it doesn;t new caliper time. |

Update..
I took your advise and purchased two new h/brake cables. There fitted to the car, but Im still not happy with it. The MOT re-test is free, so will go back and keep my fingers crossed. If not then like you said new calipers. Thankls for your help Chris |
