Dodgy engine mount.

I've noticed that when I accelerate there's a noise that sounds like the exhaust manifold or downpipe rubbing on something in the engine bay.

I've had a little look around and found out that the 3 bolts holding the battery tray gearbox mount in place were all loose.

So I tightend them up and you could physicaly see the engine moving up.

But now when i drive it feels slightly stiffer (the engine) but the noise is more promionent.

I can only imagine it needs the gearbox jacking up and then loosening all the bolts and re tightening them to get it to sit correctly?

It's uber pissing me off.

Also I have a de-cat so i dunno if this is what's causing it but my exhaust fumes seem a bit...hmm I dunno, bit minging. Smell a bit chokey/sooty. With the CAT on the car did pass its emmissions but I dunno if it's maybe runnign a tad rich.

Can anyone shed some light on these two problems please

maybe the decat pipe is a bit out of shape and causing the downpipe to rest against something...i had this on my 19...rotated the decat 180 and it went away...must have been slightly bowed.

Good idea but I think it's more than that. When I changed the CAT back to a de-cat it still did it

It seems to do it more on full left lock and also in reverse. Feels all loose and sloppy.

Engine mount shagged maybe?

Cheers.
