Cambelt Whine

Cold engine, it sounds find a touch tappy rev it and its fine.

When the engine is about half way to temp it sounds very sweet indeed.

When engine is to temp rev it and the cambelt whines, i thought the cambelt only whined when it was too tight (therefore being most obvious when the engine is stone cold)

?

a cam belt is at it's tightest when cold, then the heat gets to it and everything expands.

So loose cam belts cause the noise then? Cos the engine is fine at cold.

if it was your belts it would do it when it's cold, is what he's saying.

Check to see if it's coming from your alternator.

sounds like its too tight or a tensioner is on its way out? the tapping would go when you rev it cuz the oil pressure goes up n fills the gaps. try doin a motor flush then put on a genuine filter cuz they have a non return valve in which helps keep oil pressure. (well they always did)

I have yet to see a filter in the last 10 years+ that doesn't have a non return valve

yeah they do, they tend to have higher filtration standards etc

its just any filter you pick up, if you cant see through the holes on the outside then its got a 1 way valve

Yeah theres a valve on the housing. The main benefit with the inserts is oil doesn't tend to go everywhere as they are mounted vertically or a little off the vertical.
