Wired up termials wrong. Whats going to have gone wrong?
Firstly, yes this is an embarassingly schoolboy mistake and im pretty p*ssed off at myself for having done it.
Basically, i used a battery outside the car and using jump leads wired it direct to the terminal connectors in the bay. The next part is pretty obvious from the title i had them wired the wrong way wasnt getting any lights on the dash (suprise suprise) and something then started to smoke in the bay down by the alternator/underneath. After this fiasco and instantly realising what i had done i swapped the terminals the right way but now i get nothing there is a clicking from where the fusebox is when the live first touches the termial?? Basically where do i start looking and whats going to have gone wrong how do i check over the fuses etc. Any help as always really appreciated. Even though i think i should just leave cars alone as this proves! |

chances are you popped the rectifier pack on the alternator.
The clicking you hear is the aux water pump relay this is NORMAL when you reconnect a battery. Does anything else work with is connected up right? The main problem is you turned th eignition on, if you had just left it and not turned it on chances are it would have all been fine

Ok found out that the live connector for the dash etc easnt connected when i made the hash so all dash lights etc come on ok lights work etc.
So the alternator will be shafted, what else is likly to have been knackered? Will the ECU have suffered and have i fucked the loom as the starter wont even click now? Cheers Last edited by Basing16v; 13th May 2007 at 08:03 PM. |
