oil change?

this may be a stupid question but ive got round to doin the oil change found it was a square so nipped down halfords got the tool checked haynes manual for what grade of oil sated 15/40 this when the problem began the previous owner informed me he only used mobil 1 and this is 10/40 and the spotty chap in halfords was intent on selling me mineral oil has the cars 15yrs old he kept telling me even though i protested it had only done 63,000 miles can anyone give me a pointer to the correct grade and recommend which one best

10w/40, 15w/40... either is fine.

just get a decent-ish semi. Halfords own is fine, probably cheaper at your factors though.

Well comma is supposed to be good. Eurolite or something.

I went to my local factors last week and they supplied me with their own 10/40 oil which was the same stuff, repackaged by Comma for them. Cost me £11.99 for a 5 litre tub so not too bad.

I get duckhams for free. result. I usually go along the lines of tryin to keep the oil as it aleways has been, if a cars run on mineral its whole life use mineral and vice-versa. If in doubt use semi. turbo cars are the ones to be careful on they need good oil and regular changes. T is for Trouble.
