Adjusting rear drums?
Right, my handbrake is quite high, also theres a bit of extra travel on the pedal even though the discs and pads are nearly new:
Will adjusting the drums sort these out or do I have the mess with the cable? Is it just a case of changing the adjuster in the drum or is it more difficult that that? cheers. |

There's an adjuster in the rear drums to compensate for shoe wear. In my experience they never work.
There's a toothed wheel you can wind on to space the shoes out. Issues with the brake pedal will not be related to the handbrake unless the shoes are worn. |

issue with the pedal will be very much related to the handbrake, witght he handbrake on I bet theres a lot less travel on the pedal!
Often the rear adjusters are missing components as garages liek to remove these things for some reason. Don't touch the cables. Adjust the brakes manually if all the self adjustign bits are there, the drum shoudl just go over the pads and the handbrake 45/clicks. pedal should feel pretty solid. |

yes pretty much.
Theres a good chances theres a bit wear ridge on the drum, you really need to grind/file this off to do the job right. check out my grey clio report for some good pics. |

holy crap, that's made a huge difference!! it brakes <1cm of travel now I love it!! The handbrake takes 3 to 4 clicks!! Easier than I thought too. Just need to sort out the shafted master now though because it's creeping but I can't be arsed!
Ps do 52mm to 54mm shocks increase camber? |

just got back from quite a long drive and the o/s drum is hot and smells horrid so i'm sure it's binding, but when I checked it it was rotating fine!
Is it ok to just leave it for a few hundred miles and let it wear down a bit |
