what does this wire do

hi. my car has not been running right when cold and i noticed this wire was loose. it goes from the ignition module to the car body and there is a capacitor in the plastic bit at the end. it is about 10cm long and white. i just wondered if anyone knows what it does. cheers

it suppresses electrical noise that affects the ecu and your radio.

if you earthed the wire then you have at minimum popped the coil, but probably popped the module as well.

For my own information -
Does the suppressor go on the coil - or the coil +?
