Gear shift wear

Help me out guys.

I have a Clio mk1 at home, that car's used by my sister and by me when it's snowing so I can handbrake my way sideways since I'm not doing that kind of driving with my Fiver...

Anyway, the problem is;

Clio's gear shift is more solid then on R5, you can jiggle the R5 shift when in gear, and sometimes if I go fast over some hard bumps it can fall out of gear and get in neutral...

Clio doesn't have that feeling...when in gear, the stick doesn't move a slightest bit...

So, as this is mostly comfort issue, what do I need to change on my gear mechanism to make it work as good as new, what part most likely wore out?

Theres 2 bushes at the box end of thelinkage. Not got the part numbers, but when I last bought them it was £3.50 it came to.

1 is a round knurled metal bush (which the bolt of the linkage passes through) and the othe ris a rubber affair which slips over the top of the box arm and takes out play. You sometimes need to crush the linkages end a bit to tighten it up again.

There should also be a spring at the gearstick under the car to pull it back into postion in nueatral. These are normally missing/corroded. Ren will try and fob you off with the £13 kit but get the right part number one as its only a fiver them. Or get a spring from elsewhere.

New renaults the linkage is weighted for a more positive feel, on some the weight is just a clamp.

Thanks Chris, fast answers as always

Will look at Dialogys when I get home, glad to see the prices, nothing like cheap original parts that make a difference
