leaking cv boot/gearbox

is it just me or is this not good

looks like more oil is coming out

I would have used a narrower hose clip.

But not it shouldn't leak. It will leak but maybe a dribble per 1k miles not enough to be wiped dry down the shops and its wet again.

only reason i was worrying is dan said something about a bearing in that boot which should run in that groove(i maybe mistaken) so if i keep an eye on the box oil level for now

one question thorh why does gearbox oil go into the cv boot i never seen that on any cars i worked on before

because the nearside shaft goes into the gearbox diff directly. the bearing in the cv will always weep a tiny bit, but not much.

The reason it goes intot he box instead of like other cars a short shaft is to reduce torque steer and improve handling.
