r5 1.4at

Just bought meself a 1989 F reg r5auto, Came with 12month t/t and so far it is running fine. Just got 2 niuggles with it in that, when cold its a pig to start but once running its fine. I suspect evaporation from when it was hot, or the fuel is drianed back to tank. Also the yellow warning light with a pulse comes on sometimes. Someone called Chet? refered me here from usenet as a engine light. there is no dif with the light on or off in running. the engine seems to be pushrod with a carb on top.

the warning light is the electrical incident light from the box.

When its hard to start are you getting a spark?

Could be a faulty park/nuetral switch causing the light and it takign a while to start.

reading another post, is the light combined with the auto box sensors?

Also has anyone a scan of the instrument panel and the detail of the red/yellow warning lights, o, i know the standards ones lol, oil, bat, etc. and glow plugs that are not on this car haha

yes like I said its the electrical incident light on the box. Thats the only thing that will set it off.

Carb will probably need stripped and cleaned, the solex blocks easily.

Does the box change gear ok or lock in 3rd?

fyi, I found the fault now.
there is a tps on the carb that is linked to the auto box. wiggle it and light can be made to come on at will. now need another one. I took it apart and the tracks inside were rotten.
