Brakes
Has anyone ever upgraded the rear brakes on the 19,i.e fitted bigger discs???
I have read on here that 280mm is an option for the front but what about the rear? Any advice would be great thanks.. |

After the problems i had with the bias valve, the discs are badly pitted so could do with changing.
I was just wondering if there is an upgrade whilst i have it all apart, plus the discs do look really small through the wheels imo! |

There was a guy on here a few weeks back going on about a rear brake conversion he had done. I asked him for further details/pictures but they were not forthcoming. Can't remember who it was now.

Well when they work properly they are OK, problem is that they usually dont work properly, the calipers are a shit design.
Only reason I'd be looking to do a rear brake conversion would be just to make them more reliable.

As it happens i am looking into upgrading my rear brakes for project maxi.
My friend has an alfa romeo GTV V6 and i recently serviced all the suspension items on it, bushes, wishbones front and rear etc etc (those damn things have passive rear wheel steer too) and it looks to me that the rear brakes from the GTV V6 will work on the 19 16V BUT dont take that for gospel just yet, i am looking for a set from a breakers yard to trial fit and see what modification work will be needed. by the way with those GTV rear brakes you will need to have at least 16" wheels on the car for the wheels to clear the brakes.
