Slow Plip Question

My Plip is slow, it works ok but you have to wait 20 seconds before it will plip again, also it doesn't often work from the passenger side. In fact it's generally a bit ropey.

I know it's a common problem but is there a fix other than getting a new plip & receiver? The batteries in the plip are brand new and the receiver is getting battery voltage and has never been damp.

New plip & receiver solved this.

Interestingly (!) the position of the screw has changed on the new plip so I'll have to drill a new hole in the key blade if I want to use the new plip body.
