Rattling

Every time I go over a bump there is a signifiant rattle / loud squeek, (19 cabby) it happens with the roof up or down and seems to be coming from the rear nearside area.

At first i thought it was the spare wheel carrier but not so as have now put wheel in and tightened everything up.

the hood mechanism is manual and all appears tight now im at a loss!

oh exhaust is new and seems all in order

any ideas all welcome

Cheers

BM

check for wee stones between the beam and the trailing arm, I have seen a few where its the mother of all groans and sounds terminal when its been a chucky wedged in the gap!

Could be a damper or something as well.

had the car up and it looks like (now bear with me please) the suspension shock bit that passes throught the top of the wheel arch from the wheel vertical, the rubber grommit bung that is on the shaft has shifted and will not stay on the lip at the top and I think the banging rattling is the metal top of the shock moving lose in the hole so to speak!

I can recommend Formula 1 Autocentres actually

They let me borrow ramps etc for as long as I needed, and I had to push them into flogging me a pair of tyres

Job sorted, removed repaired and put back together in forty five minutes. Hood left in situ just lifted the back up to gain access.

Cheers all
