Alloy Sump welding.
Lucky old me can get this done at work. what the best place for a fillet weld on the crack inside or out.?
I.e mucky alloy. as getting al the oil off will be a pain as it stain's. but need to be uber clean to weld.

Edit. it's got to be welded from the outside. the two crack's have gone inward's. So the heat of the weld, should help to pull it out.

welded from the outseide, it should get cleaned then heated with the gas torch to drive the oil out of the crack then ground then welded.

neither does anyone else nop one has for about 20 years.
Everywhere has a gas torch for heating up bolts etc though

I would have been interested in this. my old F7R sump I ditched cos I decided that the dent & crack was not repairable. Now no F7R sumps ever come up for sale.

I've left it at work. Been told it might not weld up,due it it been cast and that the metal structure in cast A wee bit like a mint aero - lol. And might crack again,when it cool's from welding. Tom As the sump gone.

if we can get citroen box brackets welded the sump will take it!
