Question 1992 16v front shocks

OK i have heard that the front shock absorbers are unique to the 16v....
is this correct? or what other shocks can fit in. mine is a 1992 3 door, can say a 2001 megane 16v fit? or what?
can the shocks be adapted to fit from another model car? why cant you use the more common non 16v shockers. Come on techos, please help, i am in New Zealand and cant get the correct shockers here, and i don't want to kill the poor girl just for leaky bloody shocks. its only done 201 thou miles, plenty left yet. cheers, Gazza.

they are 19 16V specific.

You can use the entire strut off a non-16V but obviously that's not ideal. You cant mix and match parts bewtween the 2 types though. Dont think shocks off any other car fit either.

If you're nice and you pay, someone off here could probably be persuaded to send a pair over to you...

the megane ones won't fit the 19's hubs, however you can fit the megane 2l 16V struts and hubs and you also get the benefit of getting a 280mm conversion.

R25 shockers?

I might be able to get a set of R25 TXI or R25 GTX front shocks. do you think these will fit the 19 16v?
Also I have bought other items off this site and had no problems with payment / shipping, I do appreciate all the help from you guys, just wish there were more of these cars here.
cheers Gazza.
