19 & clio 1.8 16v ecu remaps?

hi all!, just building a f7p engine with higher comp pistons etc, just wondering how the ecu can be remapped?, i dont really want to buy these chips as they wont be perfect with the new pistons and cams setup, is it possible to connect up a laptop to the ecu with the right equipment and remap it that way?

cheers

I guess you could have used the now-defunct R-Tuner as a budget option

hi cheers!, but cant find anything about defunct R-Tuner??, well issue is i have some bloke putting the engine together etc and he says he is able to rig up a computer to it, save the standard map configuration and modify it?
partly i really think he's talking out of his arse , but been looking at just getting a crap laptop and whatever right equipment i need to rig it up to the ecu while driving, just not sure what i can do with this ecu really or what things i would need?
can you actually rig a computer to the standard ecu and edit the mapping or is this just crap?, or are there any good & cheap custom ecus that are quick to rig up?, i really want to learn to map it myself for experience or atleast leave it to a pro.

cheers

well, if you type 'RTuner' into google it brings up the company's webpage

...because in the less than 24 hours since you posted on a free message board, about a quite dubiously 'retro' topic, some other club member hasn't spent their time writing down for you everything about tuning a F7P engine? Maybe you should try a tuning website?

We're quite friendly really, you sometimes just have to have patience

got a reply from fastchip but it sounded like they only do the RStuner kit by the looks?, does the Rtuner kit come with a chip and obviously the essentials?, and I guess Rtuner deffo works for the f7p engines?.
but is all the difference between Rstuner and Rtuner is the diagnostic ports?, because on ebay theres a adapter from the old renault 12 pin OBD port to the 16 pin OBD2 female so I could solve the problem that way maybe?
I suspect on the Rtuner .pdf manual on the website I'd have to cut the wire at pin 8 on ecu and wire it to pin 18 etc like they say?

sorry for all the questions again, but fastchip dudes didnt really tell me much info atall
cheers

there is no connector to hook a laptop up to, and I don't know what I am talking about here but I don't think the chip on the ECU would like being reflashed.

you may want to have a look at megasquirt, if thats still on the go. lot of wiring for what your after though.
