its got to be a unique spray job if you want them to sell imo, thats the risk you take .
i sold these for 122quid on ebay after refurbing and spraying them

Image

its more time and labour that goes into refurbing a set of alloys properly and thats why i would not let any of my sets go less than 100-120quid mark .

you are looking to spend about 20quid to refurb them (spray paint ,primer ,laquer ,sanding paper ) but its a fiddley job and once you do it you would not want to let it go for peanuts either mate.

What if there are big dents and gauges. Can they be filled?

Not done much to the car lately, but got this head the other week. cost 25 quid which wasn't that bad as it's had new valves, stem seals and skimmed. Razz

Chris will be getting his hands on this at the end of the month so it's going to be the next mod that the car gets along with new cambelt kit and gasket set.

Had Chris down this week to try and sort out my p1 valver.

As soon as he turned up he was eager to get cracking on the head so as it was dark outside we used a pencil torch to see what we were doing as we took the head off.

The next day we set to with putting the new head on, (in fact I'd say WE fitted the new head to the car but if I'm honest I probably just got more in the way than doing anything constructive). It took all day to fit it, bearing in mind we had to swap cams from the other head and I disappeared for an hour to take the misses to the doctors and half the nuts and bolts that should be in my car just aren’t.

Anyway the battery was flat so I was left with pushing duties as Chris tried to bump start the car, after two or three attempts and lots of pushing the car started! Razz To are annoyance though we discovered that the bottom end had buggered up so I'm back to square 1! Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad

I now have 2 options which is where you can all help.
I can either just buy a second hand bottom end and fit that or I can attempt to recon the bottom end myself.(which is a daunting task for me)

what do you think?

Soz for the lack of pics but the Digi cams been fecked.

I reckon you should recon your bottom end.

you now have another car to use so you're not in a hurry necessarily, and once its done, you put your refurbed head on and you're set for another 100,000 miles or so, safe in the knowledge that the engine has a whole new lease of life. Cool

I'm thinking the same thing tbh. I know it's a big job for someone with little knoladge of engine internals but I'm sure with a little help I could get the job done. Wink

Well the white valver's been left on it's own for a while to allow me to MOT the phase 2. Having now done that I can play with the phase 1 a little more.

In the last couple of days I have done the following: (no pics as the pc's broke at home)

I took the starter motor off so I can fit it to the phase 2 and stop that infernal screaching!

I'm also a drive shaft short, as I used it for the phse 2.

I disconnected all the wires from the block and took the ECU out. (it's a siemans by the way)
I took out the radiator and most of the hoses. I had to cut the clips off of the aux water pump (which was fun Rolling Eyes ) but as it was dark and wet I couldn't get the pump itself out. I just couldn't seem to find a bolt or clip to undo the bracket that holds it in.

All thats left to do is undo the engine mounts, unbolt the other drive shaft, take off the box earth strap and it's ready to come out and go on my new engine stand Wink .

only 1 problem though.... I need an engine crane Crying or Very sad. Anyone want to lend me on for a weekend? Razz
