Dialogys Installation

Dialogys Installation

Disk 1: Intro Menu
Disk 2: Renault Workshop Disk 1
Disk 3: Renault Workshop Disk 2

--------------- Installation: ---------------

Disk 1 contains a setup menu, it should autoload with a flashy menu screen. This disk is only necessary to install Acrobat Reader, Quicktime Player and Java Runtime Player. Most computers will already have these. If for some reason you don't then:
- Browse to the relevant language folder
- Browse to 'Installers'
- Install as appropriate.
- Note: When you install Quicktime, you need to do a 'custom installation' and make sure 'Quicktime for Java' is checked.

Disk 2 is necessary, open it in Windows explorer and run 'installpc.exe'.

Disk 3 is also necessary, run 'installpc.exe' once more.

You will see a shortcut on your desktop called 'Dialogys MPF' whish can be used to run the software you have just installed.

--------------- Usage: ----------------

Upon loading you will be greeted with a screen with a top menu, side menu and options in the main window.

Main Window:

This is the focus of the program. This displays the precious information.

Top window:

Control Panel - don't bother

Vehicle - this is the start-up screen. Fill in information here about the relevant vehicle, e.g. Renault 19 16v is [Model: R19] [Vehicle Type: C53D] etc. If you miss out relevant options you will be asked later in the program.

RM - Repair Manuals - as it says.

NT - Technical Notes - notes about symptoms and solutions.

PR - Parts - Possibly the most useful feature of the program. Work through the (sometimes baffling) categories and subcategories to find the area of the car you are interested in and then the individual part. You will be presented with a poorly scanned diagram, click the label of any part or subassembly to see more details, e.g.
Code:
77 03 067 320 ROLL PIN CL .32 ---3 x 1
The '77 03 067 320' is the part number if you wish to order from Renault. The '.32' is the manufacturer's (Renault's) price in Sterling for the part, dating from whenever the porgram was issued (assuming you chose English as your currency during installation. You can't change this once Dialogys is installed.)

PR Screw - like parts, but concerning only fixings.

Part List - If you're presumably a Renault account holder and you've selected parts to order they'd appear here.

Contact - not relevant

TM - Labour Time - Renault's advice on time required to fit any part, in hours.

Side Menu:

This comes into play when you're browsing through parts in the main window, to give you scrolling, enlarging options etc. Mostly I just wish there was a 'back' button instead...

--------------- Troubleshooting: ---------------

If the shortcut fails to run the program, you will need to navigate to your 'program files' folder, then to the 'dialogys' folder. Run the program called 'dialogys.bat' and the software should run.

If the program starts but just appears as an empty area, then the installation was not completed correctly. Action the installation exactly as it appears above.

It's an O, ask Renault, as I need to enter it for the bypass codes, and also, in the handbook where it is listed, it is clearly an O, and it forms a part of the VIN number, and it's an O, enter it as a zero and it will reject it.

Take a look for yourself at a scan from the handbook, you will see the difference between the O and 0

I started this thread as a helpful point of information... not another rant thread, there are enough already

I didn't start the rant, I simply added some extra info. But it would appear that the Renault software will alow you to input it as an O or a 0

Just add the codes I added to the top list O or 0, whatever suites, and delete my posts in here.
